Where We Are: The Story Behind Our 3 Long Island Locations

AB Fitness Personal Training didn’t start in a shiny commercial space or with a big grand opening. It started with a vision — and a garage. In 2014, Anthony, our founder, realized that the typical gym setting just didn’t work for adults over 40. The loud music, crowded machines, and lack of support made fitness intimidating and ineffective for people who needed real coaching, not chaos. So he took matters into his own hands, literally, by building a personal training space out of his garage. That’s where the first AB Fitness clients were trained — in a quiet, focused environment where the workouts were customized and the results finally started to stick.

As word spread and the demand grew, it was clear that the garage couldn’t hold the mission much longer. In August 2018, AB Fitness opened its first official location in East Meadow, located at 514a East Meadow Ave, East Meadow, NY 11554. This was more than just a space — it was the foundation of what AB Fitness would become. East Meadow quickly became known as the go-to spot for adults who wanted a better experience than a big-box gym could offer. We hired our first team members, filled the walls with client wins, and created a community that felt like family.

Just as we started to max out East Meadow’s capacity, the opportunity to expand came knocking. In early 2020, we signed the lease for our second location in Massapequa, right on 4150c Merrick Road, Massapequa, NY 11758. But one week after we got the keys… the world shut down. COVID hit, and like many businesses, we were thrown into uncertainty. But we didn’t fold. We pivoted. We ran Zoom sessions from basements, coached clients through home workouts, and doubled down on serving our people. And when restrictions lifted, we came back stronger than ever — and Massapequa has been thriving ever since.

Our third location, Oyster Bay, opened in 2024 after bouncing back from the pandemic and refining our systems. Located at 5 Shore Ave, Oyster Bay, NY 11771, this location brought the AB Fitness experience to the North Shore of Long Island, serving a fresh wave of adults looking for real change. Oyster Bay has quickly become a tight-knit hub for locals who are serious about improving their health — especially those who are new to training and want a space that doesn’t feel like a traditional gym.

Each studio has its own unique feel, but the same mission ties them together: to help busy adults build strength, gain energy, and take control of their health for life. Our long-term goal is to open two more locations in the next few years so we can help even more Long Islanders live stronger, healthier lives.
